Bishops Stortford Football Club are the team to follow if you are from this vibrant Hertfordshire based town. The club was first setup in 1874, and is still going strong today. The team are currently in the Conference South league, but have yet to crack the National Conference - one day we will get there!

The closest Stortford Football Club got to the National Conference was in 2006-7, when they had a semi final playoff for promotion with Sailsbury City. The match was intense, and ended with a draw, and then Bishops Stortford lost the away game 3-1!

Undeterred, Bishops Stortford Football Club managed to get another go at promotion the following season. But due to a poor performance, the club slipped down the tables to 10th after a streak of lost matches. Like I said, one day we will get there!

Where Do They Play?

The lads are playing at Woodside Park, and have been there since 1999, celebrating their 10 years at the ground back in July. The ground has a capacity of 4,000 seats, seats are covered and the stadium also has grandstand and press stand areas.

The original move into the new stadium wasn't without its troubles, games where put off as the club attempted to sort the ongoing problems with the pitch.

By the time the season of 2001-2 came around the pitch was in fantastic shape, along with some of the football results!

As for some of those results, here are a few of the big ones from the past ten years:

  • Isthmian League Division One Runners Up (01/02)
  • Promotion to Conference Division 1 (03/04)
  • Eastern Floodlit Cup Winners (03/04)
  • Herts Charity Cup Winners (02/03, 03/04, 05/06!)

And what about the FA Cup I hear you ask?

  • 1st Round loss to Mansfiled Town (03/04)
  • 1st Round loss to King's Lynn (06/07)
  • 2nd Qualifying Round loss to Thurrock (09/10)
